Hello and welcome to my little world, I live down Lake Drive, in the suburbs of Colombo, Sri Lanka. Having lived in the city for 5 years, last year my husband and I decided to find ourselves a little house with a garden somewhere away from the constant honking of horns… and we have got ourselves a little piece of heaven.
There is a real lake on Lake Drive and although sometimes a little brown – it is at the moment as it is monsoon season, and to be honest sometimes a little smelly but I do love our Lake, I see the beauty amongst the ruins, Sri Lanka is a little like that, beauty and the beast, Sri Lanka has got much cleaner over the 6 years we have lived here but I don’t mind, I enjoy finding the beauty within.
I find great pleasure in a morning walk, before the heat picks up too much, although it is monsoon season at the moment we are still getting a lot of sunny days, there is so much natural inspiration to be found in Sri Lanka, I would like to share that with you.
On my morning walk the other day, first I came across these pretty little trumpet flowers.
And then this delightful combination of bamboo trunk and a mossy roped up trunk.
Bamboo and barbed wire next!
Some pretty little orange blossom close by…
Then these delightful blue flowers.
I love this fab orange TukTuk, it’s not often you get unusual TukTuk colours here, normally red, green and blue, but this orange one gives me a lovely idea for my TukTuk bags….
Now I’m not sure if this is one plant or two! The colours are so similar yet the leaves so different!
I just love the little hands on these leaves.
The morning sun shining through these leaves, with the red and green reminded me of the autumn leaves in cooler climates.
There is a lot of wildlife down Lake drive, here is one of the smaller Monitor lizards that live here.
And fruit trees growing wild, here a banana tree fruiting…
Walking back home I came across this beautiful pink flower bud and then
this stunning flower.
I tumbled upon two Monitor lizards fighting! These are some of the bigger Lizards that live here!
The view down Lake Drive towards the main road, I love how chevrons are made with the bank reflecting in the water.
I was then treated to this beautiful picture of shadows.
The right place, at the right time… next back home for a cup of tea. I feel very privileged to be surrounded by such beauty, a short walk down my road and so many things to make me smile. Thanks for taking a walk with me, I hoped you enjoyed it as much as I did.
